Environmentalist Foundation of India’s "Lake on Wheels" Revolutionizes Water Conservation Education with NTT DATA's Support

Chennai, Tamil Nadu - December 5 - The Environmentalist Foundation of India (E.F.I..), in collaboration with NTT DATA, a global digital business and IT services leader, is excited to announce the launch of the "Lake on Wheels" project. This pioneering endeavor aims to raise awareness about water conservation by utilizing a specially designed bus that will travel to various educational institutions, public parks, beaches, lakes, and more across Chennai and Bangalore.

The "Lake on Wheels" is a unique platform intended to educate and sensitize the public on the importance of preserving our water resources and inspire volunteer participation. The interior of the bus is divided into several compartments, including a laboratory and displays showcasing models of lakes, ponds, rivers, freshwater ecology, climate change and impending natural calamities. The exterior of the bus is adorned with striking stickers emphasizing the criticality of water conservation. Furthermore, a screen has been installed in the outer side of the bus for projecting documentaries and awareness videos in nearby communities when the bus is parked in outdoor fields.

Through this program, visitors will learn about the significance of clean water, health hazards associated with pollution and the environmental impacts we face. The bus is expected to reach nearly 1.2 million individuals across Chennai and Bangalore while visiting 120 educational institutions throughout the year. It will also appear at special occasions and public gatherings, including village fairs and festivities.

"The 'Lake on Wheels' project is an innovative initiative that will allow us to reach a larger audience and raise awareness about the importance of water conservation," said Arun Krishnamurthy, Environmentalist & Founder of Environmentalist Foundation of India (E.F.I.). "This initiative highlights our commitment to environmental sustainability and demonstrates the transformative impact that collaborations between corporations and non-profit organizations can achieve."

Bob Pryor, CEO, NTT DATA Services said, "Our top corporate priority is to help realize a sustainable future, which requires clean and dependable supplies of water. The Lake on Wheels initiative is a wonderful way to educate and inspire people about the diverse sources and the critical importance of this precious resource. We are thrilled to partner with such an effective and expert organization as E.F.I.."

E.F.I's association with NTT DATA began in 2016 with several cleanup and wall-painting drives in Chennai, aiming to create awareness about environmental conservation. Building upon this success, the partnership took on the monumental task of reviving the Seekana Channel in Mudichur, which feeds the Adyar River. Over the past eight years, this collaboration has positively impacted the lives of over 300,000 people and has conserved over 8.69 crore liters of water through the restoration of six water bodies and one afforestation project.
