Working with financial data requires robust systems. A U.S.-based financial services firm decided to move current financial systems to the cloud, adopting a Software as a Service (SaaS) model to deliver fast, reliable results now and in the future.
To facilitate the shift, the organization opted to integrate the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform with their current content management system (CMS). Additionally, the firm wanted virtual private network (VPN) capabilities to connect and sync with their current network. Continuous integration/continuous development (CI/CD) would allow their teams to improve applications more often.
To achieve the fast and reliable delivery results they need to compete in the fast-paced world of financial services, the company turned to NTT DATA’s MuleSoft Services.
Business Needs
The firm relied on various Oracle applications to maintain financial management data — a system that required a continuous connection to its current CMS, Alfresco, through Oracle SOA Suite. With customer financial data exceeding hundreds of thousands of files, the organization needed a more robust system.
With a goal of enhancing an architectural framework, the organization wanted to move its current financial system to the cloud using a SaaS model while maintaining an integration with Alfresco. Adding VPN connectivity would allow existing system APIs within MuleSoft’s CloudHub managed cloud service to connect and sync with the firm’s current network. A CI/CD framework would allow teams to improve applications frequently, with fast and reliable delivery results.
Outcomes
- Sets up and configured MuleSoft VPN, VPC and DLB capabilities
- Develops CI/CD capabilities to assist with real-time services delivery
- Creates a framework for common logging and exception handling
- Develops reusable APIs
Solution
To begin the project, NTT DATA set up and configured the respective MuleSoft VPN, virtual private cloud (VPC) and dedicated load balancer (DLB) services that would allow the system APIs housed in MuleSoft CloudHub to connect with the organization’s current network.
Following API-led connectivity, MuleSoft built a framework that would allow the firm to reuse APIs in current and future use cases. Combining this capability with the newly developed CI/CD pipeline, the team completed the project and delivered a live demo of the integration code, working with Fusion Public Cloud, before the required delivery date.
A framework for common logging and exception handling was developed for use with all future APIs. By creating a well-established and stable MuleSoft foundation, the team was able to significantly reduce the financial services firm’s required development time for future delivery projects, saving them time, money and potential resources.
The solutions and services created a well-defined blueprint of API development and deployment. A successful Fusion Public Cloud integration helped the team complete the work well before the scheduled delivery date.
A stable MuleSoft foundation with reusable APIs prepared the firm to build other integrations, such as linking the firm’s CRM system to OSSCR and Documaker, Oracle’s enterprise document automation solution, that coincide with the firm’s future project requirements.
