- February 16, 2018
NTT DATA Canada, Inc. is proud to be one of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers, Canada’s Top Employers for Young People and Nova Scotia’s Top Employers for 2018. The MacLean’s magazine’s competition “Canada's Top 100 Employers” is an annual competition recognizing Canada's best places to work. NTT DATA Canada has consistently placed as a top employer in all our years entering the competition (since 2006).
A Rigorous Selection Process
Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers using the same eight criteria as the national competition, which includes:
- Physical Workplace
- Work Atmosphere and Social
- Health, Financial and Family Benefits
- Vacation and Time Off
- Employee Communications
- Performance Management
- Training and Skills Development
- Community Involvement.
Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
Some of the highlights include Health and Family benefits, with 100% paid health benefits for full-time employees and family members which include spouse, same-sex domestic partner and dependent children. Employees receive supplement medical insurance, dental insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, life insurance, and long-term disability insurance, as well as extended healthcare insurance for prescription drugs, vision care, paramedical coverage and more. Employees also can receive an Annual Training reimbursement of $5,250 / year for approved Certificates or Certifications. Defined Training paths for career development, e-learning options and more.
Employees interested in changing their career direction at NTT DATA Canada can participate in an internal moves program, which provides employees with guidance on how to advance in their current profession or gain experience in a specific industry. These innovative programs helped NTT DATA Canada be selected as a top employer in three areas for 2018.
Top Spots Selected for 2018
Now in its ninth year, Atlantic Canada's Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes the employers in Canada's four Atlantic provinces that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. The competition extends across four provinces – the only one of its kind – and recognizes many employers in Atlantic Canada with operations across the region.
A Great Place to Work
For 2018, NTT DATA Canada, Inc. was selected for two regional distinctions (as one of Atlantic Canada's Top Employers and Nova Scotia's Top Employers) for meeting the Selection criteria outlined by MacLean’s magazine as well as a number of additional reasons, including:
- Employees at NTT DATA Canada's downtown Halifax head office can unwind in an employee lounge, complete with comfortable seating, video games, foosball, table hockey, books, and magazines.
- NTT DATA Canada offers a subsidy for In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) if needed, and supports new mothers with maternity leave top-up payment, to 75 percent of salary for 8 weeks. Additionally, the company offers a variety of alternative work options to help employees balance their busy personal lives.
- NTT DATA Canada encourages employees to keep their skills up-to-date through a range of in-house and online training programs, formal mentoring and generous tuition subsidies for job-related courses.
Canada’s Top Employers for Young People
Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers regarding the programs they have to attract and retain younger workers. These include benefits such as tuition assistance and the availability of co-op or work-study programs. The editors also examine each employer's mentorship and training programs, including benefits such as bonuses paid when employees complete certain courses or professional designations. Editors also review each employer's career management program, looking for initiatives — such as company-wide skills inventories — that can assist younger workers to advance faster in the organization. Lastly, the editors also look at the average age of employees at each employer to better understand the composition and profile of their workforce.
This year's winners were announced in a special editorial feature published in Atlantic Business magazine's January 2018 issue. To learn more about the competition, employers are invited to attend the Top Employer Summit, an annual editorial conference on Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. The conference is Canada’s largest annual event for senior-level HR professionals.
