NTT DATA Recognized With ‘A’ Score for Transparency on Climate Change
TOKYO – December 13, 2022 – NTT DATA has been recognized for leadership in corporate transparency and performance on climate change by global environmental non-profit CDP, securing a place on its annual ‘A List’.
Based on data reported through CDP’s 2022 Climate Change questionnaire, NTT DATA is one of a small number of companies that achieved an ‘A’.
CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. In 2022, over 680 investors with over US$130 trillion in assets and 280 major purchasers with US $6.4 trillion in procurement spend requested companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP’s platform. A record-breaking 18,700 companies responded.
A detailed and independent methodology is used by CDP to assess these companies, allocating a score of A to D- based on the comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks and demonstration of best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets. Those that don’t disclose or provided insufficient information are scored an F.
NTT DATA was also included in the 2022 edition of "Stories of Change," a reference published by CDP presenting the urgent actions required of corporations by global society, for the second year in a row in 2021.
NTT DATA Carbon-neutral Vision 2050
NTT DATA sets targets and pursues measures to address the problem of climate change. In July 2022, NTT DATA revised the NTT DATA Carbon-neutral Vision 2050, its plan for responding to climate change, by adding a new long-term target of achieving net zero1 carbon emissions by 2050. This revised vision supports the Corporate Net-Zero Standard2 announced by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)3 in October 2021.
Based on this vision, NTT DATA will cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including in its supply chain, and pursue Green Innovation to contribute to net zero emissions for its clients and society.
Dexter Galvin, Global Director of Corporations and Supply Chains at CDP, said: “Congratulations to all the companies on this year’s A List; environmental transparency is the first vital step towards a net-zero and nature-positive future. In a year of ever-increasing environmental concerns around the world – from extreme weather to unprecedented losses to nature – the need for transformational, urgent and collaborative change is more critical than ever. We must decarbonize half of global GHG emissions and eliminate deforestation by 2030, alongside achieving water security on the same timescale – there is no route to 1.5°C without nature. As CDP continues to raise the bar on what qualifies as climate, forests and water leadership, we hope to see the ambitions and actions of companies on the A List – and those wanting a place on it – do the same.”

1. Net zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are achieved when anthropogenic CO2 emissions are balanced globally by anthropogenic CO2 removals over a specified period.
2. "SBTi launches world-first net-zero corporate standard" (sciencebasedtargets.org)
3. Science Based Targets (SBTs) are targets for reducing corporate GHG emissions, based on scientific evidence conforming to the Paris Agreement. The targets are set by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a joint initiative for climate change between the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
