NTT DATA: A blend of leadership, culture and creativity

The past six years at NTT DATA have been exhilarating and filled with learning, leadership and creativity. From my initial steps in the talent development role to my current role in the Leadership and Culture Center of Excellence (CoE), my career trajectory has been marked by substantial growth, exploration and innovation.

Leading programs like the Advancing Leaders Program (ALP) and Leader to Leader 2.0, I've had the privilege of shaping sessions that not only enhance leadership skills but also strengthen our unique company culture. Owning the ALP, a nine-month journey designed for our managers, has been a rewarding endeavor. It's about making sure each employee's journey is meaningful and tailored to their expectations and aspirations.

Commitment to learning opportunities

Keeping employees motivated and performing at their best is at the heart of NTT DATA’s culture. By creating programs that align with the business strategies and cater to the employees' learning needs, the company has fostered a culture where value and relevance in learning are paramount. This approach has led to a virtuous cycle of engagement, where employees apply their lessons and share their positive experiences with peers, encouraging broader participation and commitment to continuous growth. One shining example of this approach is the Elevate program, which focuses on training and mentorship to support the professional development of women leaders within the organization.

That’s not all. I have consistently observed a culture of openness when it comes to addressing areas of uncertainty or seeking additional clarity. The teams I have collaborated with have fostered an environment where individuals feel confident in expressing their lack of understanding without fear of judgment. This atmosphere of support and collaboration guarantees that everyone is readily available to provide assistance and guidance, enabling individuals to fully comprehend and complete their assigned tasks.

I remember NTT DATA’s transition to virtual learning platforms in response to the pandemic. It underscores our adaptability and resilience. The company not only sustained the learning ecosystem but enriched it, embracing the new digital frontier with open arms. Leading a virtual team, I learned the true meaning of collaboration and the power of technology to bring us closer, even when physically apart.

My role has allowed me the privilege of engaging with diverse thoughts and perspectives, enriching my understanding and approach to leadership. It's a reflection of NTT DATA's environment — diverse, inclusive and always buzzing with fresh ideas.

Creativity and craftsmanship

Outside of work, my interests lie in creativity and craftsmanship. I was awarded Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for my handmade dolls. And of course, my love for reading and writing reflects my belief in the power of continuous learning. This again, emphasizes the company’s culture of encouraging employees to pursue their passion with as much zeal as they apply within.

My two cents for anyone aiming for success at NTT DATA or elsewhere is to stay meaningfully engaged. It's not about being busy; it's about making each day count with purposeful work and a commitment to learning. The blend of leadership, culture and creativity at NTT DATA has not only shaped my professional journey but has also enriched my personal growth. Here's to more learning, growth and impactful contributions in the years to come!
