PLANO, TX – Jan. 10, 2018 – NTT DATA Services, a recognized leader in global technology services, today announced it has partnered with Pieces Technologies, a pioneer in clinical artificial intelligence (AI), to help clients improve the quality and decrease the cost of patient care with natural language and AI-based solutions.

NTT DATA Services will integrate the Pieces™ Decision Sciences (DS) software into its comprehensive portfolio that includes data integration services, analytics capabilities, cloud services and transformation consulting. The expanded services will enhance clients’ ability to meet the triple aim of healthcare: improving the quality of patient care and overall population health while lowering costs.

“We are committed to delivering practical, innovative solutions that solve our clients’ daily challenges,” said Barron Lange, president, provider segment, NTT DATA Services. “This collaboration with Pieces Technologies will deliver true clinical value and drive sustainable change for our healthcare clients moving to value-based care models.”

The cloud-based Pieces DS platform applies advanced technologies, including natural language processing (NLP), to power key algorithms throughout the patient’s journey in real time. Fully integrated with electronic medical records, the software leverages class-leading predictive modeling, clinical NLP, machine learning and AI directly at the point of care to aid real-time decision making. This enables hospitals and health systems to lower readmissions and avoidable hospitalizations, reduce excess length of stay, minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections, and decrease complications from sepsis and inpatient deterioration.

Since 2016, the Pieces DS software has proven to identify at-risk patients and prevent healthcare-associated infections for Pieces clients, resulting in:

  • Up to 20 percent reduction in length of stay
  • Up to 26 percent reduction in readmissions
  • Up to 15 percent reduction in sepsis mortality

“At Pieces Technologies, our mission is to advance health at every decision using artificial intelligence algorithms and real-time data,” said Ruben Amarasingham, M.D., CEO, Pieces Technologies. “The partnership with NTT DATA Services represents a powerful opportunity for us to further our reach on a global scale. Together, we will provide unparalleled insight to health systems at the point of care to reduce costs and improve the care team experience.”

A recognized leader in the healthcare space, the company delivers targeted segment solutions including patient engagement, predictive analytics, healthcare cloud hosting, integration and interoperability, clinical and claims application implementation, revenue cycle management and policy administration, in addition to core managed infrastructure, application and business process services.
